MLB Playoffs
Jambon said: Where spending big like Dodgers, Mets, Phillies etc becomes a problem is that it creates a two-tier system. The small market teams who can't generate the sort of revenue big market teams do become defacto feeder systems for those big markets. They can catch lightning in a bottle but as soon as their young stars approach free agency they're gone because their small market team can't afford them. Click to expand... Thanks. That makes sense. Owners willing to spend big bucks will have an unfair advantage attracting stars who become free agents. A cap could solve that problem but still doesn't guarantee a winning team. It was amazing watching MIL mow down LAD like they were standing still. I don't know what is more desirable or profitable for owners, having a team with stars or having team that wins. I think it is very cool to see the final three this year have relatively small payrolls and are playing baseball that is fun to watch.
So true! Dodgers were humiliated. Guardians have spunk and youth on their side. Ohtani choked same as Vlad 🤷🏻♂️
Actually, one could argue over-paying mega-cap teams does work. 2/3 times, just not guaranteed, and nice to see the humble teams succeed. The problem is that the big caps generally do better all season and therefore make the playoffs and hog the best spots for the playoffs, leaving a lot of smaller venue teams out on the sidelines. Vicious circle. Sure, does not guarantee they win the world series, but gets them to the dance more often, and gets a regular playoff placing and more chance of repeats. Hard Cap those bastards! Enough sillyness.
In the end I don't really care too much what solution they come up with, I just don't want another lockout. Billionaires fighting millionaires is revolting to watch. The Rays seem to play a similar style to the Brewers. It could make for an interesting final but I still hope for Cleveland to pull a Cinderella story upset. I just like them for some reason.
Brewers vs Rays..we'll have a 1st time champion!
Brewers take Game 1 of WS.Both teams got here with solid, mostly no-flash baseball, good pitching and team defense. Since I started this thread I think it's ok if I expand it a bit?so....Lions host sask next wkend and Wpg goes to the Center of the Universe. I'm picking Lions and Bombers to prevail....thoughts?
Scrappy game. Brew crew looks hard to beat. Pat Murphy is a beaut.
Kevin Cash with some head scratching decisions .
Looks like the Brewers are on their way to their 1st world series championship.
7-0 top of 5th What a turn of events, instead of inning being over thye hammer out 6runs Best team all year
Hopefully Milwaukee's beloved breweries have been working overtime to get the city stocked up for a big celebration. Last time Milwaukee had a World Series champ was back in 1957 when Hank Aaron led the Milwaukee Braves to victory over the Yankees.
Brewers suddenly look like bullies. Rays looked like helpless babies. 11 runs scored and no HR's. Love seeing the small ball.
Pretty awesome really. The Brewers are looking like no recent team in the MLB. Dominating. Pretty sure it will be a sweep but we'll see.
Fun game tonight.. Rays livee to fight another day Brutal throwing error for brewers leading to lead off bottom 12th
The casket has creaked open and a head and arm are emerging lol. As Yogi said "it ain't over til it's over" The fat lady hasn't sung yet, though she's probably warmed up the pipes. Brewers going with their ace tonight so likely to be quaffing champers but..it's sport so..ya never know?
A computer cannot tell you how to coach in a do or die game . Be better Kevin Cash
Brew Crew for the win! Well deserved.
Hit for contact, great base running and superb pitching. A dominant win and a guy punch to the big spending teams. Hats off for the Brewers and I bet Bob Uecker is resting peacefully tonight.
The casket got nailed shut and the fat lady warbled, lol. I've seen a few games in the stadium in Milwaukee and I'm sure the watch party was rocking! Congrats,Brew Crew!
