Rogers Greed

https://mobilesyrup.com/2026/10/28/rogers-limits-auto-pay-discount/ So they announced they'll now be charging a 1.6%fee for all credit card payments for bill payments (TELUS tried this a year ago and it lasted a year) And now they announce that if you have their auto pay discount, you'll only be eligible if your auto pay card is a Rogers bank credit card or pre authorized debit...majority of people don't have a Rogers bank credit card and Most people don't like the auto debit cuz when they overcharge its a pain to get your money back, they add a credit to you bill instead of refunding the charge unless u specifically ask for a full payment refund, which would then require you to make a payment again for the refunded payment These telcos seriously need a proper check... Reported $21billion in revenue last year alone, and yet they can't afford to pay the credit card processing fee And lets not even begin to talk about the paywall to watch hockey now too

I just call my bank once per month a pay my bills. Never felt comfortable with auto pay, credit card payments etc. But yeah, it looks as though they are doing their best to extract as much $ as possible.

Autopay lets them have your money even if there is a problem that is their fault which happens a lot. Managing your payments and scheduling those has worked extremely well for me and when there is some BS issue, I still hold onto my money and tell them well you fix it and I'll buck up, they try to charge interest etc, I just send them the chat transcript. Resolves every time. Fuckers.

I dumped them and never gave them another thought.

I loathe Rogers, the company, it's executives current and former, their sense of entitlement and their contempt for their own customers. Thing is, Bell and Telus are just the same. It's like they all went to the same sadistic program on how to make billions by treating customers like shit. My last telus experience was hilarious, only after I dumped them did the discounts arrive and by then it was too late. What Rogers has done with hockey is criminal.

For years I didn’t give my cell bill/plan a second thought until I heard a friend was paying a third less than me and getting more data. Looked around and found a better deal with Telus at the time only to have Roger offer an even better “win back” a few months later. Telus undercut that less than a year later and after my most recent ship jump(was a two day offer at Walmart on Boxing Day to essentially switch from any major carrier to another lol)I’m currently paying $35/month per line plus tax for 100GB unlimited Canada AND US (including US roaming) wide for three lines plus got 3 $100 Walmart gift cards with no activation etc. Only catch is have to auto pay with PAD but the lesson is there is no reward for loyalty in this realm. Like banks and credit cards , at least for the average person, better off to keep milking new customer/come back offers.

I was looking at a new phone and the clerk looked at my plan. She said "Whoa we gotta get you off this plan!" I was paying $105 for less at Rogers. I'm stuck on a Shaw interent plan but as soon as it's up it's gone too.

Currently with Koodo (Telus) paying $38.36 (taxes incl) unlimited Canada wide/US calling texting with 1 gig of data (I barely use it and it rolls over every month). Shaw is 114.00/month for basic internet (no t.v), but I keep getting offers from Telus for PureFibre 1.5 Gig for $75/mo. That's a 2 year plan and it goes up to $105/ mo. after that with a price lock for 5 years. Tempting.
