What is your responsibility to being a citizen of Canada?

Kind of an open question but what is required for you to do to be a Canadian Citizen? Vote Pay taxes I would put down that after high school serve a 2-3 year stint in the CAF. Anything else?

Anything else? Click to expand... After decades of neglect and inbreeding (for lack of a better word) the CAF is barely functional with the personnel they have. They could not deal with the mass intake of a bunch of immature influencer-wannabes. But that should be a different thread. As for what is required for you to do to be a Canadian citizen? Choose kindness. It takes the same amount of energy to be kind as it does to be an asshole but you get better results. Kindness doesn't imply weakness, but it does require maturity. So, be kind, thoughtful, considerate, willing to help, and when necessary, throat punch some douche who is abusing animals or people. And fascists, always throat punch fascists just on principle. Have a nice day, eh! (Except fascists ... fuck them fuckers).

You have to learn to say sorry even when you’re not. It’s a Canadian thing 😘😏

I'm a 1.5 generation immigrant. To be a responsible Canadian is to... 1) Be nice 2) Be forgiving 3) Retaliate hard when others do harm, but always remember rule 2. 4) Don't leave a mess. 5) The Geese has the right of way. We live by the rules of Ice Hockey.

Here is what I believe we should be doing as Canadians. 1- Be respectful and courteous. 2- Invest in our next generation. Volunteer whatever skills you can offer and help them grow. 3- Hold people in power accountable by asking right questions. 4- Think long term on how we can make Canada resilient and build a diversified economy. Lastly, because this thread is on Perb, treat service providers with respect and dignity!!

Anything else? Click to expand... I think understanding the fundamental freedoms behind the founding of the country. I also think we need to give the citizenship course to PRs. I know lots of PRs who do not fundamentally understand the country or its history. I know they can’t vote but they can raise families here. Lots of Chinese and Indians move here and never learn about limited government, individual rights, they just think all the wealth just appeared out of nowhere, they then advocate for horrible top down models like Modi or President Xi. If they do become citizens it’s often too late, look at Olivia Chow, she had a front row seat to the mass starvation in China living in comfortable and capitalistic Hong Kong, rather then encourage Canadians away from big government she joins the most communistic party going.
